Mamma Mia! The Party is a brand-new show that has already taken Stockholm and London by storm. Today, producer Punch announces that Mamma Mia! The Party will come to the Netherlands for the very first time in 2024 and will be exclusively staged in Rotterdam for just 10 weeks. Mamma Mia! The Party promises to be an unforgettable and fully immersive celebration, including a 4-course dinner and an afterparty featuring ABBA’s biggest hits.

Mamma Mia, Super Trouper, Dancing Queen, and Waterloo… ABBA’s beloved music embodies the essence of a party, and that’s exactly what audiences in Rotterdam can expect. Tickets for Mamma Mia! The Party go on sale starting Tuesday, May 23, via www.mammamiatheparty.nl.

It all started in 2007, during the filming of Mamma Mia! The Movie on the Greek island of Skopelos, where the first seeds of Mamma Mia! The Party were planted in Björn’s mind. The summer atmosphere, the flower-filled courtyards, and the welcoming Greek hospitality were a source of inspiration, and the first characters began to take shape. The overwhelming success of the film and musical in the years that followed led to a wave of tourists visiting the island—proof that audiences wanted to be part of the story, even if just for a moment. And with that thought, Mamma Mia! The Party started to take shape.

The venue in Rotterdam will be completely transformed into Nikos Taverna, a vibrant Greek tavern set in a charming old town square on the island of Skopelos. Guests will be transported to a world of Greek atmosphere, where a heartfelt love story unfolds right in the middle of the audience, featuring spectacular dance performances and ABBA’s most iconic songs.

Over the course of this four-hour experience, guests will enjoy a Mediterranean-inspired four-course dinner. After the show, the lively town square transforms into a dazzling disco, where everyone can dance the night away to timeless ABBA classics at the afterparty. And there’s only one house rule: ‘Have the time of your life!’

The music and lyrics for Mamma Mia! The Party are by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus. The original story was written by Calle Norlén, Roine Söderlundh, and Björn Ulvaeus. The Dutch translator and cast will be announced at a later stage. The show will be performed in Dutch, while the ABBA hits will remain in English.
