50,000 tickets sold for Mamma Mia! The Party.

With nearly five months to go until the premiere of Mamma Mia! The Party at the Schiecentrale in Rotterdam, it was announced today that an incredible 50,000 tickets have already been sold for this unique show. To celebrate, long-time ABBA fans Jan Smit and Kees Tol traveled to Stockholm to personally present their idol, Björn Ulvaeus, with a Golden Ticket.
Kees Tol and Jan Smit made the journey to Sweden to hand Björn Ulvaeus the Golden Ticket, marking the sale of more than 50,000 tickets for Mamma Mia! The Party—the show created by the legendary ABBA singer and composer. This was a dream come true for both of them, as it was their very first time meeting their idol. Three years ago, Kees Tol made the documentary Take A Chance On Me about ABBA, with the ultimate goal of meeting one of the band members. Back then, it didn’t happen. But now, alongside Jan Smit, he had the honor of presenting the 50,000th ticket to the Swedish music legend.
“It was an incredibly special moment,” said Kees Tol. “Suddenly, we were standing face to face with the man whose music I know by heart.” Jan Smit was equally impressed. “He’s an icon, and to be able to personally hand him a Golden Ticket made it even more special.”
Björn Ulvaeus is the creative mastermind behind the hugely successful Mamma Mia! The Party. Alongside Benny Andersson, he wrote a brand-new story, woven together with ABBA’s biggest hits. What makes Mamma Mia! The Party truly unique is that the story unfolds all around the audience, who enjoy a four-course dinner as part of the immersive experience. And after the show, the celebration continues with an electrifying afterparty. The show first premiered in Stockholm in 2017 and has been running at London’s O2 Arena since 2019.
Starting in September, Mamma Mia! The Party will take over the Schiecentrale in Rotterdam. The recently announced cast includes Kaj van der Voort, Horace Cohen, Belle Zimmerman, and Jeannine La Rose in leading roles.
“We’re incredibly proud that so many people have already purchased tickets for Mamma Mia! The Party,” says the producer. “The audience just can’t get enough of ABBA. And in this show, we’ll also hear songs that weren’t featured in the films. It’s going to be a spectacular party!”
